Trump’s Full Statement
Today, the Peace Council reached a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed organizations in the Gaza Strip. This is a huge step toward sustainable peace and security.
This agreement is a crucial step toward Gaza finally being managed by a new Palestinian government, which will work in close cooperation with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will receive the security it deserves, as Gaza will no longer serve as a base for terror attacks.
This is a significant milestone in the implementation of Trump’s 20-point plan. The agreement will be implemented in structured and carefully planned stages. Upon the completion of the disarmament, IDF forces will withdraw, and an international stabilization force will work together with a new Palestinian police force to bear the responsibility for ensuring Gaza is safe for its residents and for its neighbors.
A year ago, a violent war was raging, a humanitarian crisis was developing, and hostages were being held in brutal captivity. We have achieved historic progress, but much work remains to be done.
I wish to thank the mediators – Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey – for their important efforts, and especially my excellent team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible.
The threat that came out of Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to rebuild!
Under this agreement, Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that will serve its people.
Congratulations to everyone on this amazing development, which everyone said could never be achieved!
