Steve Witkoff, representing the 47th U.S. president, Donald Trump, has confirmed his upcoming visit to Israel as part of a team overseeing the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. In an interview with Fox News, Witkoff emphasized that the agreement’s success would enable the return of numerous bodies held by the Hamas terror group and create a foundation for regional peace and normalization.
“I Will Be Part of the Monitoring Team”
Witkoff noted the challenges of enforcing the ceasefire, stating, “I will travel to Israel soon as part of a monitoring team stationed in the Netzarim Corridor, which divides northern and southern Gaza, to ensure militants do not move northward.” He described implementation as a critical step toward advancing the agreement’s next phase, including the repatriation of bodies held in Gaza. “The implementation of the ceasefire agreement is likely to be more challenging than closing the deal itself,” he added.

Aiming for Regional Normalization
Regarding normalization between Israel and Arab states, Witkoff expressed optimism. “I believe all countries in the region can normalize relations with Israel, including Qatar, which played a critical role in securing the agreement,” he said. Witkoff highlighted that normalization would mark a fundamental shift and lead to economic prosperity, adding, “There will no longer be concerns about missile fire from the Houthis or Hezbollah.” He emphasized that the ceasefire is a crucial first step for this process to succeed.
Witkoff expressed optimism about broader normalization between Israel and Arab nations, noting Qatar’s role in securing the ceasefire. “I believe all countries in the region can normalize relations with Israel, including Qatar,” he said, emphasizing that this would mark a transformative shift. He highlighted the potential for economic growth and stability, adding, “There will no longer be concerns about missile fire from the Houthis or Hezbollah.”
Normalization of relations between Israel and its neighbors reflects the initial fulfillment of Micah’s prophetic vision of peace and prosperity: “They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken.” – Micah 4:3-4. May this be the dawn of a new era of harmony and blessing for Israel and the region.
