A Long-Awaited Homecoming: More Israeli Hostages Are Freed from Hamas Captivity

The return of Israeli hostages marks a moment of profound relief and renewed hope for their families and the entire nation. The process unfolded step by step, beginning early in the morning and culminating in emotional reunions and much-needed medical care.

At 8:46 AM, the Red Cross confirmed that two hostages, Ofer Kalderon and Yarden Bibas, had been transferred into their custody and were being escorted toward IDF and Shin Bet forces inside Gaza. About twenty minutes later, they were accompanied by an elite IDF unit and security operatives on their way to Israeli territory. By 9:09 AM, Kalderon and Bibas crossed into Israel and arrived at the initial reception center near the Gaza border, where they underwent medical evaluations.

Shortly after, at approximately 10:46 AM, Kalderon was airlifted by an Israeli Air Force helicopter to a hospital for further medical care. Meanwhile, Bibas experienced an emotional reunion with his father and sister at the reception site, seeing his loved ones for the first time since his abduction.

An hour later, at 11:25 AM, Keith Siegel was transferred from the Red Cross to Israeli forces and crossed into Israeli territory. He was immediately taken to the designated reception center near the border, where he received an initial medical evaluation before reuniting with his family.

By midday, all three freed Israeli hostages were safe, receiving necessary medical treatment alongside five Thai nationals who had also been released. President Isaac Herzog welcomed their return with a firm commitment: “We will not rest; we will not stop until we bring back all of our brothers and sisters from the hell of captivity in Gaza—until the very last one!”

Yarden Bibas, a 34-year-old from Kibbutz Nir Oz, was kidnapped alongside his wife, Shiri, and their two young children, Ariel and Kfir, during Hamas’s brutal October 7th attack. Shiri was seen in a harrowing video wrapping her children in a blanket as terrorists forced them into captivity. Initially, Hamas falsely claimed that Shiri and the children had been killed in an Israeli airstrike. However, Israeli intelligence later confirmed they were alive in the early days of the war. Bibas, a professional welder known for his love of music, was shown in a Hamas-released video pleading for his freedom and that of his family. Former hostage Dina Moshe later revealed that she had encountered Bibas in Hamas tunnels, where he had been placed in solitary confinement after resisting his captors.

The Hostage Families Forum issued a powerful statement, reaffirming their unwavering mission: “We have a sacred duty and moral obligation to bring all of our brothers and sisters home. We will not stop, we will not relent, until every last hostage is returned—whether for rehabilitation or, in the case of those who perished, for a proper burial in their homeland.” The families have also requested privacy and have asked not to be approached directly at this time.
